Title I Math

What's going on in the math lab?
  • 7th & 8th graders are using Fastt Math to improve their multiplication and or division skills.  They use their assigned laptops to access the program at school only.  Several of the 7th and 8th grade students have mastered their multiplication and division as well as addition and some are working on subtraction.  To keep their skills and speed up they are taking quick quizes at the begining of each class that tests them on on particular number times 0 - 12.
  • 6th graders are continuing to work on their multiplication in  Fastt Math.  Although several still have work to do in addition however, we need to have them work on their multiplication.  Encourage them to keep working on their addition skills as well at home.
  • Want to help at home
  •  use flash cards to test your child
  • download tux math (free program - find with google search) and have you child practice the skills they are working on in Fastt Math.
  • on vacation and not at home?
  • try quizing your child orally
  • mix it up - don't start at the 1 and progress to the 2's (it gets boring)
  • when shopping have them estimate what it would cost to purchase more than 1 of an item.
What is Fastt Math?

Fast Math is a software program that allows students to practice their math facts and tracks their progress.  The program uses timed skill tests to determine what the student already knows or can answer in less than a second.  Students build their speed and knowledge though study fact drills and games that help improve their speed and knowledge.

Students will start the fastt math program at the level that is appropriate for them individually.  One student may start with addition where another will start with multiplication.

How Do I?
Did you forget how to approach a particular problem. Here are examples created by 8th grade students with a little help by a couple of 6th graders, that demonstrate a variety of topics each grade covered in class.
